Greene County Family Medicine Clinic brings technology

JEFFERSON, Iowa – The Greene County Family Medicine Clinic is ensuring patients have access to all aspects of their healthcare and can perform a variety of tasks digitally through the MyUnityPoint portal and new welcome iPads in the Family Medicine Clinic.

“There are a wide variety of convenient and time-saving tasks that can be completed through the MyUnityPoint app,” says Clinical Informaticist, Denise Promes. “Patients gain easy access to MyUnityPoint by downloading the MyChart by Epic app to their phone or other mobile device. They will then have test results, primary care provider messages and other pertinent health information right at their fingertips.”

In addition, patients can use this portal to verify insurance information, request medication refills, check in for appointments, complete necessary questionnaires or documents, e-sign forms and more…all from anywhere with internet or cellular service.

Those patients who have not yet signed up for MyUnityPoint when they arrive at the Family Medicine Clinic for an appointment will be given one of the new welcome tablets for registration and check-in. Once that registration is completed, the patient can simply download MyChart on their device and log in for future use.

“Not only does MyUnityPoint offer ease of access to patients, it ensures the information they complete in the portal will automatically flow into their chart,” explained Promes. “The great thing is that this puts control in the patients’ hands. They can choose to complete the check-in and necessary documentation prior to arriving for their appointment, or they can utilize one of the iPads at the clinic to do so there. Either way, this allows the primary care provider to spend more one-on-one time with them.”
