JEFFERSON, Iowa – Greene County Medical Center is hosting a public open house in their new Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation space on Wednesday, September 20, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is an opportunity to meet the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team and tour the new larger space on the second floor of the medical center.

“A patient-centered approach to care means we are continually evaluating the ways we can adapt our services to meet and exceed the needs of our patients. Through this process, it was determined that available space could be converted for our pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation center,” said Care Management Director, Amy Sessions. “This not only provides us with more square footage for exercise and evaluation areas and to house our equipment, it has also allowed us to create a walking track and more exercise options for those we serve.”

Cardiac rehabilitation is a Greene County Medical Center service for those who are recovering from a recent heart issue. The rehabilitation team partners with dietitians and pharmacists to develop a specialized plan of care for each patient with the goal of safely increasing physical activity and fitness, aiding in a return to a healthy lifestyle.

Pulmonary rehabilitation helps improve the patient’s quality of life by maintaining or improving exercise tolerances and gaining an understanding of their pulmonary dysfunction. Rehabilitation can decrease hospital stays and increase independence.
