Family Medicine Clinic Provider Named One of Great Iowa

JEFFERSON, Iowa – Family Medicine Clinic Provider, Sara Fleecs, ARNP has been recognized as one of the 108 2024 Great Iowa Nurses. “Greene County Medical Center is proud of each of our five nominated nurses for their dedication to their patients and their profession,” said Chief Nursing Officer, Amanda Lass. “Nominations are made for nurses who go the extra mile, ensuring safe compassionate care while also utilizing their leadership, experience and knowledge to improve the community’s health. It is an honor to be nominated and it speaks volumes about the positive impact these nurses are making in our communities and with our Team. Congratulations to all.”

Fleecs’ nominator said she is the best nurse they have ever worked with. Her calm demeanor brightens their day and her devotion to patient care is something all should strive to achieve. “She demonstrates extraordinary service to patients by going above and beyond each day. Sara is a leader in patient care and has mastered her craft. Her most significant innovative contribution to nursing is simple—Dedication. Her dedication to medicine and her patients is matched by none.”

The four other Greene County Medical Center nurses nominated for the award include:

·        Deb Hoskins, RN with Greene County Public Health. Hoskins is a compassionate, well-respected, disarmingly humorous quiet leader in her department. She has earned the appreciation and respect of staff members, providers and patients alike.

·        Mary Pedersen, ARNP, a primary care provider with the Family Medicine Clinic. Pedersen puts others’ needs before her own and makes her patients feel cared for and heard. She is a caring, compassionate, empathetic and professional provider, a positive role model and an example of medical excellence.

·        Abby Skoglund, RN in acute care. Her nominator said she is the epitome of what a nurse should be; well-rounded, knowledgeable and helpful. She puts her patients first with compassion and a positive attitude. She is the total package; the nurse patients and co-workers want by their side.

·        Chelsie Thompson, RN in acute care. A great leader and mentor who is always willing to help out. She collaborates effectively with ancillary departments, ensuring each patient receives excellent care. Thompson is the empathic advocate and educator everyone wishes they could have as their nurse.

Fleecs will be honored at a virtual ceremony with the other 2024 Great Iowa Nurses recipients at a date to be announced.
