Greene County Medical Center CMO Announces Retirement

JEFFERSON, Iowa – The Greene County Medical center Board of Trustees and Leadership Team have announced the upcoming retirement of Dr. Laurie Connolly, MD, Chief Medical Officer (CMO). “We would like to congratulate Dr. Connolly on her more than 23 years of dedication to excellence in patient care,” said CEO, Chad Butterfield.

Dr. Connolly has served patients through her work in the Emergency and Acute departments and at the McFarland Clinic, which is now the Family Medicine Clinic. She was named Chief Medical Officer in early 2021.

“Because of her tireless efforts as a physician and a leader, our patients have access to the very best in medical technology in an atmosphere where friends and neighbors care for each other,” Butterfield said. “She has led Greene County Medical Center in an expansion of services and initiatives to enhance the patient-centered model of care and been instrumental in building a high-quality healthcare foundation designed to serve our patients for generations to come.”

Dr. Connolly will be retiring May 2, 2025. In the coming months, the Board and Leadership at Greene County Medical Center will be working diligently to research options to address the Chief Medical Officer responsibilities.

Dr. Connolly spent her childhood in the eastern Iowa community of Camanche before going on to earn her medical degree from the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. She and her husband, David Ohrt, have been Greene County Residents for over 22 years.
