JEFFERSON, Iowa – Those requiring specialized treatments for wounds will no longer need to travel. They can instead be treated at the new Wound Care Clinic at Greene County Medical Center, opening Monday, May 5. The medical center has partnered with Healogics the nation’s leading wound care provider in a mission to Find.Treat.HealTM the chronic wounds for each of our patients.

Kaitlyn Bravek, PA-C, Karlee Hines, BSN, RN, WCN and Katie Nelson, MSN, RN, have all undergone extensive training in advanced techniques and evidence-based practices with a focus on assessing, diagnosing and managing a wide variety of wounds. Bravek, Hines and Nelson are dedicated to helping patients prevent complications and promote healing of difficult wounds that have become infected or require ongoing medical attention. “Patients will receive a thorough examination and evaluation of the wound and their overall health when they arrive at the clinic,” Bravek explained. “Our team may also order diagnostic testing, such as blood work, wound cultures or imaging studies so that we can determine if there are any underlying causes or conditions impacting the expected healing time. We are excited to be able to assist patients in our service area who are suffering with a difficult wound and those who have other health conditions that may hinder the normal healing process, such as diabetes, a compromised immune system or poor circulation.”

Hines has been a member of the Greene County Medical Center nursing team for more than a year and a half and will serve as the Case Manager and Wound Care Nurse (WCN) at the clinic. She has nearly five years of experience working with wounds and has seen that focus continue to grow over the past nine months. Nelson will be the Clinical Program Director at the Wound Care Clinic and has been a member of the nursing team at the medical center for more than two and a half years.

The Greene County Medical Center Wound Care Clinic will be located on the second floor of the medical center and will treat a broad spectrum of wounds, including: diabetic, pressure, venous statis or arterial ulcers as well as surgical or traumatic wounds. Treatments could include debridement, infection control, specialized dressings or bandages, compression or negative pressure therapy, nutritional counseling and patient education.
